Dang I was hoping you would respond with a picture of said muscle car. What do you have up your sleeve?
And why would you be looking in the late 60's when you could step up to the early 70's?

Someone built a GN look alike 87 Cavalier using a newer era series II supercharged 3.8 motor. Cars like the mid 90's to early 00 Grand Prix GTP's, Buicks, and Monte Carlo SS had this engine. The GTP guys out there have been able to get these engine's into the 9's in the quarter(yes 9 seconds). Takes a bit of work to get that serious with one of these but some good port work on the heads gets you, at least from the things I have read, close or just over the 300HP mark. I think stock, they are rated at mid 200HP
The Cavalier never got a 6 cylinder engine so in a sense, this is like taking a early car and sticking a motor the car never came with in it. Like you would with an LS motor into vintage muscle. Very tastefully done on a car no one ever thinks about and would never consider cool.
Wasn't there another GM compact of that era that actually was a hi-po (for it's class) sedan like that? I want to say it was a ciera or skyhawk or something like that.

At the end of the day, it's still an '87 Cavalier...

Especially with his '69 in pieces right now having been a long term member of the CAC (Cars Apart Club for those new members)!

I'm considering a quick way out of the CAC though... just not sure how much I like Butternut Yellow.

Exactly like that, except in the size and shape of a mid-size Chevy musclecar from the late 60s...

If I had a picture, I'd share it... it belongs to my uncle.
Jenna's not quite on board yet though.

I beg to differ...........Z24. I bought one new in '90. Had an aluminum head 3.1 TPI V6 and was dang quick. That 3800 may have been a fairly simple swap. Mine was this color combo but with better wheels.

Forgot about the Z24. But I think point still comes across. Its still not a 3.8
