Just got word about 1/2 hour ago that she's arrived, and now settled in with her host family in Quito, Ecuador. Been a long day... for all of us.

Foreign exchange student, I would guess. She's very brave to go that far from home and John is NUTS for agreeing....

Didn't have much choice in the "agreeing" part... She set it up, worked her heinie off and funded (80%) it, and it's a large part of her Foreign Language major language (Spanish).
Got an email this week, and she's really happy and "at home" with her host family, has her own bedroom & bathroom, and is on an excursion this weekend. We're going to "skype" later tonight, and get our 1st real update on her first week there!

OK... crazed adrenaline-junkie daughter...
Previous post said "excursion" for the weekend with one of her host family's daughters?... NOW we find out they are also cursed with an "adventurous" sort as well, and SOOOOO happy that their new guest isn't a "Nerdy bookworm that lives to study and locks themselves in their room"...
Trek into the mountains and:
- Zip-line a few kilometers (total) across valleys, gorges, etc...
- BUNGEE JUMP off a bridge
- White-water raft down the gorges you zip-lined across!
5 days out of country and now I've got gray hair SHOOTING out of my head & face!!
(I thought I was in trouble when I asked Seitz to "take care of her" when she wanted to sky-dive! )

Sounds like you passed on some of your "adventurous" genetic profile...
When do you leave to bring her home...
