We recently purchased a '66 Chevelle. I'm hoping to use the members of the Northstar Chevelle Club for assistance when I have questions. I joined the Team Chevelle website and introduced myself there. A couple of NCC members on that site encouraged me to check out your club and attend the Car Craft show. Because we had family members visiting, we were not able to go to CC. One of your members, Jim Larson, (the owner of another '66 Chevelle) emailed me and we have exchanged several messages. As a result, I feel like I already “know” one of you.
This isn't my first Chevelle. After college, I purchased my first new car --- a 1968 SS396 Chevelle. (I'll let you do the math to determine my age bracket.) Since I don't have a good picture of my '66, I'll use a picture of a '68 Chevelle that is almost identical to the one I purchased. Mine was “Sea Frost Green” (the same color as this car although it always looked gray to me) with a black vinyl top. The only visible differences are the wheels (I had Firestone Wide Ovals on steel wheels with dog dish hubcaps) and the factory applied pin stripe along the side that does not appear on this car.
At the beginning of this summer, my wife and I decided to sell our motorcycles and enclosed trailer. With a stall now open in our garage, we decided to look for a “vintage” muscle car. Except for the late model Challenger that we now have, I've never owned anything besides GM cars and trucks. We looked at certain years of Chevelles, Camaros and Novas. We finally found the '66 Chevelle that now sits in our garage.
I have downloaded a membership application and will send it in along with my dues so that we may join your club.

Welcome and I think you'll find the club to be a good group of people with a lot of knowledge and experience to share.

Welcome. Feel free to check us out in person next month when we host a show at Friendly Chev in Fridley. You can even bring along the 66.

Thanks for the "welcome" messages. I put the membership application form and check in the mail this morning so --- assuming I pass all the membership "tests"--- I should soon be an "official" member of of the NCC.
To respond to some of the questions:
I've taken a few pictures of the car but it looks orange (of course there's nothing wrong with that color) instead of red. There is a hint of orange in the paint but the pictures look like there's NO red in the paint. I'll have to see if I can post some pictures to this site.
I've looked at the events calendar so I'm aware of the car show at Friendly Chev. Unfortunately, there are family things going on that weekend so I'm not sure we'll be able to attend. We'll try to get there if we can.
We live in Eagan.

Thanks for the additional welcome messages. I guess I'm now an "official" member of the NCC since I got an email with the user name and password for the members only area.
To answer Scott P's question, since I lack the skills that many of you appear to have, I found a car that is essentially finished. I'll supply some details at another time.
In an effort to get to know more about the club and it's members, I'm planning to go back to the beginning of the posts in the various subforums and start reading all of them. I did that once before when I purchased a somewhat unique motorcycle and found a site that had a bunch of other owners sharing information, etc. I never met any of those folks in person so that will be different with this group. As a matter of fact, I had a chance to talk with Jim Larson for a while on Saturday. I recognized his car and introduced myself to him. We chatted for a while and found out we have a number of things in common other than each of us owning a red '66 Chevelle.
