Thought it was removable; but difficult to remove. I drive a lot on gravel roads and with the off road tires, a lot of small rocks are picked up and the rocks are thrown up nick up the underside of the rear wheel lips. Front wheel wells lips are protected by a plastic shield.
the front of the hood, get tiny little nicks that you can't see, unless you look close. Drilling holes for the deflectors is an absolute no with MN salted winter roads.
This is the same stuff that gm uses in other areas to protect the paint from rock chips. Like just behind the rear doors on the bottom of the side at the front and just behind the rear wheel well. It also pays to put on mud guards to protect certain areas, even though I hate drilling holes in the brand new metal.

Thinking about using this on a new truck. There is an authorized installer near me in Rochester.
I wonder if this is a good product and if anyone has installed it themselves. Problems or tips welcome. Thanks,
I have a good friend thats been installing the 3m product for 20+ years. it comes on a roll, he installs and trims it to fit. I had it installed on my wifes car in 2000 and it still looks new. let me know and I get you his contact info.

Picking up the truck on next tuesday. Would like to do the front of the hool and the exposed side of the rear wheel lip, where the rocks nick it up. Would appreciate his contact info. Thanks.

Ok thats strange. I just responed to this thread around a half hour ago and its not here anymore. Posting again.
If you just bought a new truck. I would just take care of the paint just like you would with a nice collector car. The trouble with that stuff is when your paint ages, the paint under that stuff doesnt and you get a clearly visible parting line. I have a 97 Tahoe that I would put that stuff on years ago, and wont do it now either. I most certainly wont put it a brand new vehicle. It may work but I just dont like those products sticking permanently to my paint.

This may be a goofy idea, but I'll let it fly...
What about something like Dashboard did to the bed on his 'Camino - exact color matched bed liner material, carefully masked and sprayed onto the wheel opening lips, and the trailing sail areas of fenders & quarters?
I know some OEM's did this awhile ago, and I'd fathom a guess that the product is better now. It's through-colored, so chips & dents wouldn't show.

I've seen that on the spray on bedliner sites. Colors available; but there seems to be a problem with color fading.
Hope that doesn't happen to Kevin. I wonder if he is going to put a cover on like he had in the past.

You're trading in an '09 on a '12. If you trade trucks every 4 years, I wouldn't worry about color fade that soon.
