I had multiple Big Wheels and a Green Machine (big wheel knock off). Flat spotted those plastic tires all too often. Had a sit and spin that was good for getting you skun up too. 1st bike was a used purple Schwinn Stingray with a shifter and a metal flake banana seat. Then moved on to a Westerned theme Huffy until I graduated to a BMX bike in the 80's. Grew up arguing who got to ride in the "way back" of the wagon with my siblings. My favorite was riding in the open bed of Grandpa's pick up with the cousins. Grandpa used to take the blade off of the riding mower and let us kids drive that around. Then he picked up a little trail honda dirt bike that we'd ride for hours. I sometimes miss those simpler times of my childhood.

At a very young age, I learned about suspensions and that a big wheel has none.
Good times...no fear just consequences and skinned knees.

And here I was waiting for a Dumbest Stuff On Wheels episode video for what happens after the 'Big Wheel' leaves the ramp!
I was 7 years old in 1970, and all I can say is my tangerine orange bike with a banana seat and sissy bar helped me add to my scar collection!
We seemed to survive most things o.k., and I don't think we were in the emergency room any more than they are now... probably less.
Wrist rockets came up in a conversation the other day from the 70's. Man, did my best friend and I do some carnage with those! There wasn't a bird or 4 legged animial in the neighborhood that wasn't in danger when we walked the alley ways with wrist rockets and bb guns!

I remember my first bike it was a John Deere (from the dealership) yellow banana seat bike! My dad worked at John Deere at the time. I was at my grandfathers with my cousins and we were building ramps to jump, one of the last jumps, when I landed the front fork separated from the rest of the bike so the front wheel kept going and I did a face first into the ground :) Good times. Grandpa welded it back together and we were jumping again the next day.

Mike,
Speaking of Honda Trail's. My son and I are fixing one up right now. It is a 1970 Honda Trail CT70. Just ordered some parts to go through the carb, replace the wheel bearings, and rebuild front shocks.
