I don't know a lot about injectors, but the pounds do vary by the fuel pressure your running. I've never had mine dynoed but I hope to be around 500 hp at the crank and the injectors I have are 36# at LS1 fuel pressure (stock LS1 are 28#). I think the same injector is rated:
30#'s per hour @ 39psi (ford)
32#'s per hour @ 43psi (early GM)
36#'s per hour @ 58psi (LS1)
I ordered mine from fuel injector connection, they were really good to work with and they will buy your old injectors for rebuilding.

So all you guys running efi, what horsepower does your engine produce and what lb per hour injectors are you running. I know they have calculators for injector sizing but I wonder how close they really are. Raising fuel pressure will obviously raise flow some as well to make the injector seem bigger.
I am running running 29 lb per hour right now but am upgrading my supercharger and know I am going to need some bigger injectors. I never have dynoed the motor to know what horsepower was previously. But I was thinking of going yo 45 lb per hour injectors at this point. Which based on the injector sizing tables should support something close to 500 crank horsepower.

Chris,
Your assumptions for using a 45 lb injector are sound.
Below is an injection table link.
With supercharger, that could bump up your BSFC from .52 to .57. This is at 43.5 psi for fuel pressure. If you go to the bottom of the page.
500 hp / 8 injerctors = 62.5 hp / injector.
BSFC set to .57
80% duty of a 45 lbs injector = 63.2 hp * 8 = 505.6 hp
95% duty of a 45 lbs injector = 75 hp * 8 = 600 hp
Does your pump have enough capacity to provide enough fuel without losing the psi?

Mine system is running 43 psi, I am pretty sure my pump is up to the task. What I don't have at this point is an adjustable regulator to modify pressure higher if I need to. That is something I might have to look into, but I am hoping to get injector size close so that I don't need to go there.

That Sy/Ty adjustable regulator would work for you too right? Definately stay away from what I started with.

Mine is a 383 with 450 HP 465TQ and 36# injectors. You need to look at cycle rate on these I found out, mine are still good for more HP not much.

Well I just pulled the trigger on the injectors, should have them next week. Ordered 46 lb hr so I think I should be pretty safe of not going lean. Will be back on the road for spring though needing some tuning.

Maybe Jim will do a 2-fer deal on dyno tuning at TPIS?

There is another guy in St. Paul that Aaron in the Camaro Club swears by and Aaron is extremely picky about his tune. He bought a "lifetime" tune and can get changes whenever he wants for free.
Get that Camaro going in time for the Club Dyno Day may 5th....

Mitch, I've tried several times to find out if the Camaro club would let us combine our clubs for the dyno event, but haven't heard anything back. Can you help me with that?
We didn't have enough to participate last year, but we would if we combined the clubs. Thanks.

We have an officers meeting next Tuesday and I'll bring it up, but we usually have more cars than time with just the Camaro's...

Thats what I heard too. Camaro club gets a pretty big turnout at those events and they usually have very little dyno time left for other cars out side of thier club. Which is understandable when your a club that big.
We might be able to work this out with MSMA or something though.

Injectors showed up today which is cool and I can start putting things back together. But now I won't be able to get the car out of the garage to put it back in the shed.

Chris you will just need to think of a few other projects to do while it's stuck in the garage. It's supposed to be 40's possibly 50 next week so the snow won't last too long.

Mike I sold the engine that is in my buddies 69 chevelle, so I need to get it back in the garage and pulled out. So I am trying to get the camaro back together so I can get it out of the way to do that.

Chris, time to insulate and get some heat in that pole barn so that you can free up the home garage!

Stan you don't know how much I wish I had the money to get that done. I would really just be happy to get some concrete and electricity down there.

Chris, we can have a concrete party and mix up a bunch of bags for you! Maybe BYOB? Bring Your Own Bag of concrete?
We have a few electricians in the gang as well that could work cheap for beer and burgers.

It would be better if it was BYOCT Bring Your Own Concrete Truck to make it go a little faster. But once I get enough stashed away I may be calling for some help from the group.

Rent a mini backhoe this summer and we'll trench the wires under ground from the house out there. I did that when I built my shop but I went down 6' and buried a water line too.
