The Chevelle left the shop today with the replacement engine installed and is now tucked in for the winter back at home. Sure looking forward to spring and back on the road again. Bryan sent me a video of the car being loaded up. Kinda of made me a little home sick until I compared temperatures. I think I will wait a little before venturing north.

Post the video, it provides documentation that you are out of the cars apart club. Good news, glad it went well, kadoos to Bryan.
Do the best you can while suffering through the sunny 70 + temps, be sure to use sun screen when you are out fishing.

I wasn't there when it was put it or run initially, but I saw and heard it run. Sounds good. I know that it was rund for @ 1/2 hour initially and then the next day again for another 20 mins or so. Not really enough to do a proper break-in, though-have to leave that for Jon. It's up to him wether he wants to post the video (or me to).

Stan, I will have to break it in on the street, GMPP says they will void the warranty if it is dynoed before installation. The GMPP rep said the warranty says the engine must be installed in a street legal vehicle and a dyno has no license plate. Hmmmm? (That is a direct quote told to the service manager during a conference call.)
Bryan, it says the file is too large to upload, but I do have proof I am out of the CAC!

I'm not sure if Jon qualified for CAC this time. Isn't that honor reserved for those of us goofy enough to tear our cars apart ourselves for months at a time ??
I'll keep the bracket safe in my shop. It may take a month to find it later this Spring, but it WILL be there...

That's interesting... I suppose they don't want the hassle of working with an engine dyno service. Breaking in the cam on my 402 on the dyno was one of the best things I ever spent money on for the car. It was done in a controlled way and we were able to monitor all the vitals while breaking it in. Much easier than in a car. But, Kevin and Mike will tell you I was a little nervous the first time it started up since it had been taken apart to a short block, and a bunch of us shadetree mechanics put it back together!

I can understand GM's point, but I lean way over to the rest of us that what's the diff if it's on a dyno and run to redline or in a car and run to redline???

EXACTLY! When asked what the difference was it got real quiet on the phone. Personally, I think the guy was just having a bad day and we can all relate to that. I will follow up later with GMPP on the issue.

AND the Costa Concordia. I thought modern ships had fail-safe aparatus to prevent them from sinking ?? Guess not, that would make too much sense.
I went from a "shadetree" body restorer to professional restoration tech in 4 years...
Anyway, If you want Jon, as a free service, I could run over on a nice day or 2 and break that engine in for you while you're otherwise ocupied with warm temps. I would wash and wax it upon return so it's all ready when you get back...

In one picture the "shade tree mechanics" are just out of the cameras view to the left drinking cold beer.
In the other picture Stan can be seen working on a shade tree.
