I think a lot of people use Eastwood Chassis Black which is more of a satin than semi-gloss.
I'm sure others will chime in on this one.

Semi is correct. Eastwood sells a gloss black chassis paint too, but I don't care for a frame to be that shiny.

Semi gloss is correct

The places I have checked have gloss and satin, I guess satin is "pretty" close to semi gloss. I will have to test check a spot on my frame for color match.

Rustoleum has a semi gloss black that may match well. They also have a semi gloss clear to put over it to protect it longer. I use a few Rustoleum products during my restoration efforts and am pleased with the results.

It was either ACES or Team Chevelle that had a full list of every chassis part and what color it is supposed to be. I cant find it anymore. Best I could come up with was this. I wish I could find it online (I do have a printout somewhere). It was a very handy list to have when I was doing the chassis rebuild on my 66 back in 98/99.
That's for a 66. I would think some 69 componets, like frame, would be the same; but not all. Are you going to use a lacqure or an enamel? Different shades I see in a rattle can are: gloss, semi-gloss, satin, flat. I would think a semi-gloss is the most correct.

Skip makes sure to mention in the second paragraph that its similiar to 64-67. Not just for 66.

Chris,
I found a copy I printed of what you were referring to (I believe this is the one?). I have scanned it to a pdf file and attached.
Thanks Loren...I have saved it for future use, now if I just rememeber where I saved it six months from now!

Had I known where I put the copy I printed out. I could compare it to Lorens file. But im pretty sure its the same article. Although for some reason I recall not having all the text with it. Maybe I just didnt print out those sheets and just the list or I printed it all out and used just the list alone. In any case, that sums up what I had in mind nicely.

My pleasure, after Chris's post, I started looking through my files and was lucky enough to find it.

ST1202 Specialty Coatings is available in a 1 gallon premix from PPG stores. I used it was very happy and priced reasonably.

I believe that was what was used on the underbody of mine by the bodyshop.

There are lots of good products out there, seems everyone has one that’s just a bit different. I use Rust-oleum, I mix gloss and flat together in a 60/40 ratio then thin just slightly for spraying; it is as close as I’ve been able to get.
If I were ever going to do a frame off I’d use POR 15; but mixing Rust-oleum works well for small areas and touchup.
Is the correct frame color for a '69 semi gloss?
