We are SBC guys. We could probably do it with stuff we have laying around. I have a lot of good stuff and know where there's a lot more. I'm sure you do too.
I'm just saying that you and I and anyone else in this club who wants to help could make a similar year/make/model motorhome go faster than that one at Bonneville, and that it'd be really cool to get a World Record. 107 ain't snot.

Saw a classic GMC motorhome in Indiana this summer at the RV hall of fame. Kind of a lame vacation stop, but Cathy has been at Winnebago for over 30 years. We just had to stop!

Probably another 1mph in it without that goofy wing. :D

Yup... lose the Olds 455, drop in a Caddy 500+... add a little positive pressurization to the mix... and you'll crack 110mph, or have the largest cleanup of fiberglass dust ever recorded.

In the video, they said the driver never took it out of second gear. If he was intimidated at 103 and left a TH400 in second, there is a lot more mph to be had than 110. Stabilization would be a big factor, and as Derek said, the wing may have contributed to instability. Definitely was causing drag.

Looked like he was running an LS1 engine in that. So if Scott gets off his butt snoops around to see what they actually do have under the hood. Then with that knowledge build bigger better and faster Coach. Another option is get a pusher coach and run a big turbos on a diesel engine, drop the coach for a lower stance section the body a tick to reduce wind resistance.

Imagine that combination in a mid 60's Toronado.

From what I saw in the video, it just looked like an SBC with the crappy Edelbrock dual quad low-rise intake and a couple 500cfm Edelbrock carbs. But I only got that half-second glance at it. I couldn't tell where he had the timing set or what jets he had.
I know we could do better, though. I think it should be a 'club' project. We could have the World Record RV all vinyl-wrapped with NCC logos and it'd be our 'headquarters' at events. It'd be easier to spot than the EZ up and we could fit a lot of coolers in it.
A single 4-bbl SBC could beat that record with decent heads and a solid roller. It wouldn't take much to beat what the other guy's got. A 406 that'll go to 6,000-6,500 rpm is what I'm thinking...I mean, HEI can do that. I've got a full set of 1.6:1 rockers, a single-plane Holley intake, some Hooker headers, and a good HEI I'd be willing to donate right now. I'm sure I could dig up more if I looked.
This is certainly different..
