Painted over the ugly silver stripes on the tops of the quarters, and put my old 17s on it... working on getting it in "sell-able" condition. We've put around 300 miles on it so far this summer... been busy. Shortly after we started driving it, I needed the garage space for getting the Model T ready for the tour.
Interior and under the hood need some work, and I still have to put some trim on, but I think it's looking a lot better now.

That's a really good look. Much improved I think. Nice pics too!

That is looking good! I always wondered how much "fun" it would be to match/fix that nasty area over the taillight where the paint chipped - but you solved it. (I'm hoping 300 trouble-free miles... at least as the electrics go?)

I like it! You get it fixed up, you won't want to sell it.

John, since we were painting the tops of the quarters anyway, it wasn't too big of a deal to fix the flaky spot around the corner... did have to paint up the back of the pillar and blend the clear under the air-deflector though.
Steve, every time we drive it, I have thoughts about keeping it... might wait until the '69 is back together before we try to sell it. Once the faster, nicer looking, better mileage, A/C equipped, great-handling, hotrod is done, the wagon will probably not get driven much again.
An overdrive would help though... That 454 is thirsty.

Sounds like a candidate for a 5.3/4l60e swap. Cheap to do, good mileage, truck style torque, AC.

I don't need any more projects... would have been a good candidate for the hand-me-down LT1/4L60e, but I'm trying to reduce my project-load.

If I were in the market, that wagon would be in the running. I like the look.

Derek. Do you mind if we use one of these shots for next years calendar?

No problem, which one do you want? I'll see if the resolution of the original is high enough... these were reduced for internet use.

I should buy it so Scott has someone to race ...

Tony, from what I saw last weekend of Scott's wagon performance, you would have to drop in the engine from your Velle plus maybe a shot or two of NOS just to keep up with him!

Nothing a procharger on the big block wouldn't solve...

You're right! There was a procharger on a BBC in a 65 or so Elky at CC that dyno'd 1100+ hp at the rear wheels!

The guy in RSE who had the big 502 with a shot still lost to Scott. BTW Derek that car looks great.

Im not too picky. How many did you take? I usually just submit a bunch and let them pick.

I haven't hit the nitrous at the dragstrip yet. I'm somewhere between 'really anxious' and 'scared shiitless' on that.
Which means I'll do it and hope nothing blows up. I have to see a mid 11-second timeslip on this wagon and if they ask me not to run again until I get a cage, I'll be honored.
The guy with the 502 on juice at Car Craft was a wuss. Tony is not. If he brings a big block out to play, it'll have no mercy. That being said, a Tony-built big-block wagon would be ultra cool and I'd love to run against him....on a road course! LOL!!
I hope the wagon finds a good home Derek- hopefully someone local who'd be interested in the Club. I like that car and it'd be cool to see it at our events.

I sent an email to a relative of mine about it and am waiting to here back if he has any interest.
