Seems like slim pickin's for car shows on July 4th this year...
Anyone know of any on the 4th?
Eagan usually has a nice show with their city celebration on the 4th, but the Heavy Hitters car club that put it on seems to have vanished, so no show.
Otherwise, maybe Anoka on Sat. night. Anyone else planning on going?

I'm probably going to Stewartville with the '66 wagon on the 4th... Jenna works, so it'll be just me and the boys. A.J. has an ear-infection, so if he's crabby we might just stay home.

Does Stewartville have a car show or is it a city 4th of July events?

Derek, that looks like a nice show. It would be a nice drive down 52 and would be just under 1.5 hours. I've been wanting my wife to go with me on a cruise or do a car show, so this would be good. She likes the driving part (gets board sitting at car shows...) and the small town atmosphere, so she might like this.

I've been to it a couple times... I'd guess about 150 cars will be there.

Stewartville always gets a good draw on it's 4th of July car show, and their parade and fireworks are good too.
I clicked on the link and I have to chuckle when I see their town logo. A few years ago they replaced all the street lights on main street and they were super bright. Coming from Rochester it looked like a landing strip. People in town were complaining about the lights and there was a big controversy. Eventually, the lights stayed and the city council adopted a new logo:

Thanks Derek and Steve.
What time is the parade and is it close enough to the car show to walk?
150 cars is a nice size show!
Love the sarcasm in the city sign!

Parade is later... 6:00pm
It is one of the biggest parades in the area though.

The wife said YES to the Stewartville show!
If anyone wants to caravan down Mon. morning, I will be leaving Rosemount at 8 a.m. so that we get there between 9 and 9:30 a.m.
Now I need to get the front bumper back on the Chevelle and get the rear suspension work done...

Am down in Des Moines for the Good Guys show. A lot like Car Craft, a little smaller (3500 cars). Meeting some Nebraska friends tommorrow and a couple of locals. Will be back by Monday, but Cathy says she is golfing all day.

Dan, I had thoughts about going down to that. Are they mostly street rods or are there muscle cars there too?
They usually have this event on the 4th of July weekend in Des Moines. Maybe next year. The wife has family there too, so that would be another reason to go.

Jon and Loren, let me know if you guys are going to meet up, or could save a spot for me. My wife might be interested in going knowing that yours will be there too.
Loren, we usually park in an open parking lot that is north of Main (1-2 blocks?) on the north side of the street across from an enclosed parking lot (I think for a bank?). I'm not sure what the cross street is. Bryan or others that go to Anoka frequently may know the street name of that parking lot. It's easy in/easy out that way. Need to be there no later than 4 p.m. to get a spot (3:30 p.m. is best) as it usually fills up on a good night. They do let you park early.

Sorry Stan, no internet in the hotel this AM. Hung out with Dave and his brother most of the day. Pretty good mix of rods and muscle, nothing newer than 72. It usualy is the weekend after the fourth, but with monday the holiday, it was this weekend. we only went today, over a 100* yesterday, hot enough today at 90. We try to do at least one day a year, a lot easier to get in and out of than car craft.

May go to Stewartville (wife has plans for me to varnish the wainscoating on the porch); but will return to Lake City as we have great fireworks.

Been driving the '66 all weekend... finally enjoying the car after 5 years. Guess I had to tear the '69 apart to finally have a reason to do anything with it.
Hung some "427" fender flags on it today. (it's a peanut-port 454) Also fixed the brake lights and dome light today. Put seatbelts in it on Friday, which was the "big" reason we never drove it before. Wrote down a pretty big punch-list of things that still need to be done though...

Had a great time in Stewartville! My wife and I hung out with Derek and his boys, Jim L. and his wife, and Jim (Bowtie427) and his son.
It was a good turnout with some VERY nice cars for a small town show. Not much shade other than some trees by the highway, but enough to go around for everyone. Next year, will have to bring the pop up canopy.
Saw Derek's '66wagon for the first time, and it's cool. He's already transforming it into a handling machine.
My wife and I walked to the park and checked out all the activities going on there. Didn't stay for the parade, but did stay for the awards. Speaking of... Jim L. won 2nd place in the '55-94 Stock Class, and Jim (Bowtieman427) took 3rd in the '70-80 Modified Class. Congratulations guys!
