We're going back to Nebraska soon, so I started scouring the CL ads in case I found something good, and found this true '68 SS for $4500. It's a 138 VIN sans motor/trans, but was a 396/4 speed car originally. It still has the 3.55 12 bolt in it with mostly original paint other than a rear quarter panel.
If anyone wants me to take a look, it's about 25 min. from where I'll be in Nebraska.
If I only had a bigger garage and more disposable income!

I agree. It looks mostly complete other than the engine/trans which a guy could find 'period correct' parts for a stock restoration. The area of concern would be the floors and frame as Nebraska is still part of the 'rust belt', but they don't use as much salt as here, so it could be o.k.

So I could have 2 unfinished blue SS396 project cars?
One to pass down to each kid I suppose... Maybe they'll actually finish a project.

It looks like you could throw an engine and trans in it and get the mechanicals working and have a nice running project you can fix as you drive.
