Well here are some details. It is a 1966 300 deluxe car. I bought it from the son of the original owner, has 150,000 original on it. It was bought new at main motors in anoka. Its a 283 with a 3 on the tree. Motor runs like a watch. Body has a few issues but the fame is good and the interior is perfect. Future plans include a 302 small block chevy and a 4 speed on the floor.
Very nice indeed. Looks like you have your winter project lined up. Why can't I ever find one like that.

Should be a fun little project, I do have a steel 350 crank if you want it. Hate to kill your 302 idea but I do know they like a light car and wind out. Nice score though any way to find out if they still have any documentation of this car.

Congrats! Very cool! A friend of mine had one that looked very similar that he bought from the original owner. I'll have to show you a few pics of it. His was a straight six with a glide and he put the 283 from his 65 Malibu SS in it. A young lady bought his mid 90's and drove it year round. I always wonder what happened to that car. You don't see many of them around.

Yea the interior was what really got my attention on the car, the seats are perfect underneath the seat covers. All the door panels are great just need a little cleaning. I have to call Karl to see about a couple front fenders when I get some money saved up again.

Yeah, the fenders look like the brace may be gone too. If the brace is OK, there is a very good fitting patch panel for the lower rust. I used them on both my fenders. I bought 2 fenders from Karl last fall. He may have a couple more that will need the patch panel too but the braces are good.

That's cool Chris!
Good thing your tag line doesn't say 'I don't own a Chevelle, but looking for one' anymore.
That's true 'survivor' condition.
What's the red light on the left side of the dash for? Poor man's shift light?

I don't know what that light is yet? I am picking the car up on wednesday. So I have not gotten to play with things.

Nope going to trailer it. I don't trust the tires or original radiator hoses.

I know where there were 2 12 bolts; out of 65 elcamino's; but both have open gears. not sure of the ratio. Two different salvage yards, they were asking $1000 and $850 respectively. If you o pen to 68and up 12 bolts those are less expensive.

Got it home with no problems. Took it for a drive up and down the road to my house, it ran really good and no werid noises or anything. Found the protecto plate in the glove box.
Found out the red light on the left side of the dash is for the e-brake, he said it starts flashing if the brake is left on for a long time. Did not try it yet to see if it works as I think the cables are to rusty.

What's the paint code on the trim tag ?? I still think it's been painted. The pic with the door open and the VIN tag visible looks blue...

Paint code is k-k so it is Artesian Turquoise Met. Will have to see about bringing it to the next meeting. I need to get tires on it before going to far with it, I don't trust the bias plys that are on it.

Yes that's what it is for, a dealer option. On the gauge package cars, it flashes the word brake. You will need a GE 257 bulb. I got one from O'reilly's

Needs a 632 bbc with 2 stages of nitrous and a glide. That is what I was dreaming last night. Make it a 904 bbc with 4 split dominators and 4 stages of nitrous with bias ply tires, alot of them.

Good call Mitch I stopped by a friends shop and what happened to be sitting out back but a mid 70's monte. So I am getting the 15 inch rims off of it that should fit my dog dish caps. I then scored some nice 15 tires to put on those rims.

15 inch steel wheels have been pretty common on GM cars since the 70s. Even a lot of 1980s fwd cars had 15 inch steel wheels too.
Now comes the choice on which car to bring down to Car Craft.
