EVENT IS OFFICIALLY MOVED TO JUNE 11TH!
SAME BAT TIME, SAME BAT CHANNEL FOR MEETING UP AT TONY H.'S HOUSE SAT., JUNE 11TH & ROLL OUT AT 6:30 A.M.
The forecast has only gotten worse for Rock Falls tomorrow, and Sunday is still a 40% chance of TStorms. We've surveyed those that were planning on going tomorrow, and the 11th seems to work for everyone at this point.
This will give a few more folks time to finish their cars and be able to go too.
Sorry to do this, but wanted to give people time to adjust as well as block off their calendars for 3 weeks from now. Hopefully everyone understands and pays homage to the sun gods so that we have dry weather on the the 11th! ::
Pass the word if you know someone that planned on going and isn't on the forum. Thank you.

June 11th just might see an Orange Chevelle....
The Camaro Club has their season opening cruise tomorrow, rain or shine. I wonder how many will bring their cars out in the rain....
I have the back of my pick up stuffed with crap for our township cleanup day. Then I'm gonna work on the Chevelle....

At least someone got some decent weather this weekend. I just got home from some arrands, to pouring sideways rain and got soaked going from the truck to the house (roughly 50 yards). Didnt even notice storm sirens going off a bit ago until I shut off the truck and got out. Found out a tornado touched down about a mile north of here and about 3 miles south of here.

Just fired mine up mine today, should be there on the 11th, just need to get a couple of things done, Waiting for the new chute and some front tires. Hope to make some shakedown passes to see what the new engine will do. It is certified to 7.50 now.

Tony. There is a way you can do it yourself by taking a peice of small hose, like the size of washer fluid hose. Take a small container of brake fluid, by using the container of brake fluid itself or just pouring a container of brake fluid into another container. Opening your bleeder screw, one wheel at a time, putting the end of the hose on the nipple of the bleeder, and the other end into the container of brake fluid, so the end of the hose is dunked into the brake fluid and wont suck air in.
Pump your brake pedal a few times and move on to the next bleeder. Do one wheel at a time and typically you start with the furthest from the master. Right Rear, then Left rear, then Right front then left front. Dont open more then one at a time. Open one, do the procedure, close it and move on to the next wheel.
I personally like to use a clear hose if I can but it doesnt really matter. What happens is your pushing air bubbles out of the brake system and since the end of your hose dunked into the brake fluid, it wont suck air back in.

Thanks Chris.. A neighbor friend and I got it done.. It was the rears only since I had to take the rear end out to weld up the tubes.

you need to decide about where you are going to park. with that crowd i would think down at the end be a long walk to start line or in the back row. i am on the road by 6:00 normally.

Tony, I'm o.k. with being at your place by 6:30 a.m. and leaving by 6:45 a.m. if others agree.

Rockfalls Is exactly 80 miles from my house.. its about an hour and a half to get there.. Im just due south of the 3M center in Maplewood... right by 94 and Century.. I can tell you how to get there if you want Frank.. Ill be trailering as will Steve M.. I think Stan is too.

sometimes the line to get in is backed up with the paper work they have now then the tech line can be bad depending on if its a new guy or not.
Ill be trailering as will Steve M.. I think Stan is too.

I did remember to rig up an overflow bottle last night, I'll throw an open end lug nut on each wheel, and I have a battery hold down clamp, so I think I'm good.
I do have to finish hooking up the neutral safety switch too. Parts are due today for the column back drive assembly that works with the floor shifter.

I circled the areas Id like to park in.. the first is along the fence near the finish line and second away from the track. both areas have grass and little to no class 5 (rocks).
I'll most likely will be pit crewing for Steve M and riding with him.

IF YOU HAVE 7/16” STUDS, YOU WILL NEED AT LEAST 7/16” OF THAT STUD ENGAGED INTO THE "HEX" PORTION OF THE LUG NUT.. USING “ OPEN ENDED” LUG NUTS IS THE EASIEST WAY FOR THE INSPECTOR TO SEE THIS.

IF YOU ARE INVESTING IN A HELMET…. IT WOULD BE BEST TO BUY ONE OF THE ONES FROM THE NHRA RULEBOOK).
IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT THE HELMET RATING MUST BE DESIGNATED ON A TAG INSIDE THE HELMET, OR SEWN TO ONE OF THE HELMET STRAPS. THE DESIGNATION STENCILED ON THE EXTERIOR OF THE HELMET IS INSUFFICIENT FOR NHRA TECHNICAL INSPECTION.

John, the lug nut rule...does that only apply to 11.5 or faster ? I have solid chrome nuts but I doubt the car will break into the 13's. Should I still replace 1 nut on each wheel with an open nut ?

As for lug nuts, they didn't make me pop one off and mine are covered. You should be ready to, but the overall impression I got was if the car looks smartly built, your battery is solid and your helmet is legal: you're good to go. If he asks how fast do you plan to go be honest, no BS. He sees fast cars every weekend and can probably guess where you'll be anyway.

Don't sweat it. There will be enough cars there that they don't get too nit picky. The stud rule is for any aftermarket wheels, no matter the speed. But running that slow (no offense) they would still let you race anyways. (as long as it isn't a POS) They complained about mine in the front last year with closed nuts on Cragar SS rims, so I fixed them, and since that time they've never even looked at them again. Once you get to the point of racing there enough that your car is recognized, they just sign the card and off you go.

A HELMET IS ONE OF THE FIRST SAFETY ITEMS THAT YOU WILL NEED . A HELMET IS REQUIRED FOR ALL DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS OF ANY VEHICLE DOWN THE ROCKFALLS RACETRACK.. HELMETS THAT MEET NHRA REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE THOSE THAT HAVE SNELL AND SFI RATINGS AS LISTED BELOW WITH EXPIRATION DATES.
IF YOU ARE INVESTING IN A HELMET…. IT WOULD BE BEST TO BUY ONE OF THE ONES FROM THE NHRA RULEBOOK).
IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT THE HELMET RATING MUST BE DESIGNATED ON A TAG INSIDE THE HELMET, OR SEWN TO ONE OF THE HELMET STRAPS. THE DESIGNATION STENCILED ON THE EXTERIOR OF THE HELMET IS INSUFFICIENT FOR NHRA TECHNICAL INSPECTION.

Has you Battery been relocated?
ANY CAR WITH A RELOCATED BATTERY MUST BE EQUIPPED WITH A MASTER ELECTRICAL CUTOFF, CAPABLE OF STOPPING ALL ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDING IGNITION (MUST SHUT THE ENGINE OFF, AS WELL AS FUEL PUMPS, ETC.). THE SWITCH MUST BE LOCATED ON THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, WITH THE "OFF" POSITION CLEARLY MARKED. IF THE SWITCH IS OF A "PUSH / PULL" TYPE, THEN "PUSH" MUST BE THE MOTION THAT SHUTS OFF THE SWITCH, AND PLASTIC OR "KEYED" TYPED SWITCHES ARE PROHIBITED. ALSO, THE BATTERY MUST BE COMPLETELY SEALED FROM THE DRIVER AND/OR DRIVER COMPARTMENT. THIS MEANS A METAL BULKHEAD MUST SEPARATE THE TRUNK FROM THE DRIVER COMPARTMENT, OR THE BATTERY MUST BE LOCATED IN A SEALED, METAL BOX CONSTRUCTED OF MINIMUM .024 INCH STEEL OR .032 INCH ALUMINUM, OR IN AN NHRA ACCEPTED PLASTIC BOX. IN CARS WITH A CONVENTIONAL TRUNK, METAL CAN SIMPLY BE INSTALLED BEHIND THE REAR SEAT AND UNDER THE PACKAGE TRAY TO EFFECTIVELY SEAL THE BATTERY OFF FROM THE DRIVER. IN A HATCHBACK TYPE VEHICLE THE BATTERY BOX IS USUALLY THE EASIEST SOLUTION, SINCE THE ALTERNATIVE IS TO FABRICATE A BULKHEAD WHICH SEALS TO THE HATCH WHEN CLOSED. AT PRESENT, MOROSO IS THE ONLY COMPANY WHICH OFFERS AN NHRA ACCEPTED PLASTIC BATTERY BOX, PART NUMBER 74050.

My GPS didn't find the Rock Falls, WI address, so I found this on the website.
Don't sweat it. There will be enough cars there that they don't get too nit picky. The stud rule is for any aftermarket wheels, no matter the speed. But running that slow (no offense) they would still let you race anyways. (as long as it isn't a POS) They complained about mine in the front last year with closed nuts on Cragar SS rims, so I fixed them, and since that time they've never even looked at them again. Once you get to the point of racing there enough that your car is recognized, they just sign the card and off you go.
