A while back I was looking on Craigslist and came across a 454 block. I got the numbers off it from the seller and took off right away to buy it
They are 3963512 date code J 28 9.
Stamped CR and the next is not completely legible. Unlike on some of the sites state it is a short tower with the date code on the rear of the block. Complete with crank, rods, pistons etc $400.
I think it was a good deal
We are now building it into a 502 for my 70

512 block for $400? Nice!!!
Someone with an early LS6 would probably pay a lot for that!

Nice find, some guys just have all the luck. What's going to bolt up behind this 502 and transfer all this raw power to the street?
Are there pixs of this 70?

You should list it that on the LS6 registry. If the original car exists, you probably could sell it for enough cash to buy a crate 572...

It is the 70 I started in August of 2009. It is an orginal big block 4 speed standard transmission car. I sold Stan the 4 speed that came with it and bought a 1970 Muncie M22 for it. It has the original 12 bolt posi.

I thought so and if nothing else it would be worth a couple of bucks for scrap. It has been magnufluxed and ultrasonic tested in the cylinder walls. All is well.
Not as fancy as you and John are doing but at least it is... was a 454 from a 1970.
Building a 383 as well for the 69. My wife gets that car. It will be Daytona yellow. Going to be a busy year.

Looks like Christmas came early to Tim's house!
We probably won't see you all year with 2 projects back to back. Don't forget to come up for air once in awhile.

Thats what im talking about. Now days, building a 468 and that needs a steel crank instead of cast. For the cost it takes to build a big block with all performance parts, including replacing a stock cast crank. You might as well stroke it to a 496 for close to the same amount of money.
