I'll be spending next week in Duluth, GA for some card access training (no funny business, I've got a dog and a wife who can shoot ).
With the exception of a "Hooter's" being across the parking lot, and "Wild Bills" nightclub down the road, Duluth GA is a black hole. It's about 45 mins NE of Atlanta. I will have a car. Ideas??

I wanna know how you trained the dog to shoot....
With a Hooters and a bar with a name like "Wild Bills'" what else do you need ...
A quick run across US 29 puts you in Athens, home of Eckler's Chevelle Parts....

Good catch... how 'bout a dog with big teeth and a wife who knows how to shoot??
Hmmm. I don't know how much free time I'll have, but a run to Eckler's might be

Year One is about 35 min. away from Duluth, GA in Braselton, GA (according to Yahoo Maps). You could spend some time oggling at all the car part goodies!

My class schedule is 8am to 4:30 pm, M to F, and I fly home Friday night.
Both Year One, and Ecklers close at 5pm on weekdays ... I might still take a drive and at least go see the mecca's of Chevelle parts. I will be checking the classified and "autotrader" type rags while I'm there

I'd try hooking up with Bill Burke (billscamino on TC) if you're that close to Atlanta.

Yeah, the schedule sucks... and after 8 hours of droning about.... it'll be leaking out of my ears by then.
The other bummer is Road Atlanta is about 10 minutes from Year One! Just up the road.

Ditto finding Bill, great guy, awesome cars. He's laid up after some arm surgery and pretty bored right now.

Well, all's good in GA tonight... across the parking lot was dinner, down the road is...
First thing is... no snow on the ground there! It started snowing this evening here and now everything is covered in white again! And... it sounds like you will miss another few inches on Wed.!
Second thing is... if you are going to put the NCC card next to something in a Hooters to show you were there, I can think of better places that have their logo!
Enjoy your 'boring training'.

There was PLENTY of places that would grip a logo card well, and since this joint is across the parking lot it has been nominated as "base camp".
Before I left I typed out instructions on how to get Mr. Toro to pop off on one or two pulls

Y'all enjoy that Southern hospitality now and try the brewed sweet tea...
How you like that system of trams and escalators from the concourse to the main terminal ? Then there's more trams outside to get to the car rental facility. That airport makes ours look like HO scale... If you can print out your boarding pass ahead of time, it's pretty efficient to get around in.

I'm back!.. and glad to be. After about 3 days of 8 solid hours of programming, power-point slides, mini-quizzes it was leaking out of my ears. About 3 years ago I'd taken the "basic" level course (which gets the panel on the wall, readers hung, and doors to click open). This course is the "Advanced Integrator" level. This teaches how to get EVERY bell/whistle/cool gadget enabled.
What was cool is there were no lame-ducks in the class, and we were able to zip through the curriculum quickly - to the point of the 1/2 day of lab time on Friday wasn't needed. We did that stuff on Thursday! Just the final exam on Friday.
As a reward, the Training Director treated us to dinner & drinks at "base camp" that night... Bad Idea . He should have done a bit of research first about the eating & drinking capabilities of this bunch before pulling out the corporate credit card!
Between 6pm and when he pulled the plug at 10:30 we'd run up a $650 tab
If you ever make it to Duluth GA, look up Haley. She's a sweetie.
