I'm stealing this idea from the Northstar Camaro Club. Their dyno date is scheduled for May 7th. We would do ours the 3rd Sat. in May as a normal meeting schedule.
Please vote on the poll so that I can see how many are interested and I can get more details.
HOPEFULLY, the club will have more cars out of the 'Cars Apart' club by then so that we can do this (including mine)!

3rd Sat in May would that be May 21st ? That is Rock Falls club date ?

Chris P., you are right. I corrected the web address.
Jim, I missed the date conflict. We could also do the dyno as a meeting on April 16th if folks think their cars will be ready. Or, move the May meeting up a week to May 14th to do the dyno and then the Rock Falls event on the 21st?

I would say lets try for April for a Dyno day. Its not always easy for those weekend shift employees in the club to get 2 consecutive weekends off in a row.
I dont have a car up to the challenge currently but I dont want to just vote no because of that. I think the idea is great actually. We have always wanted to do this. If we do this I would suggest those members that are intrested in running thier car on the dyno. I would recommend at least budgeting around 100 bucks just to be safe to cover the fee. It wont likely cost that much but its better to have enough just in case.

May 14 is the fishing opener. I don't know how many you would lose to that. Personally, I would rather see it move back than forward. April can still be cold and rainy and they keep the doors open during the running for ventilation. June 4th would be 2 weeks from Rock Falls for people who need to get weekend days off.
Cost is based on number of vehicles but if they set the fee at $30, that's what it is. No hidden increases and NO tuning that day. Oh, and bring cash, that's how the deal works. It's just for fun and run what ya brung. The last minute adjustments and tuning take place in the parking lot... The Camaro Club usually runs 15-16 cars in 8 hours of non-stop noise... O'Reilly sets up a couple grills and helps provide lunch with Scott having the fixin's catered.

I like the idea. We're also trying to line something like that up at the show in AUgust but with a portable unit.

Update: St. Paul Automotive is holding Sat., May 14th as a potential dyno day for the club.
This is the Sat. BEFORE the Rock Falls race day, so it could be used as a test/tune opportunity!
We need a min. of 10 up to max. of 15 commitments to make this work. By having this many cars, the fee would be $40 cash per car which includes about 30 min. per car for setup and 2-3 pulls. They can do top speed, 1/4 mile run, HP/Torque, etc.
They like to start around 9 a.m. and wrap up by mid afternoon.
The $40 does include lunch provided by St. Paul Auto.
So... we need a confirmed list of participants so that I can let them know if we are going to do this or not. Here's what I see from the posts on this topic:
FOR SURE!
Stan Scott
MAYBE?
Andy
You can bring any type of car/truck that you want to have tested. Chevelle not required.
PLEASE POST HERE TO LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE A 'FOR SURE!' OR A 'MAYBE?' SO THAT I CAN LET ST. PAUL AUTO KNOW BY MARCH 15TH!!!

I would like to think I could be ready by mid-May, right now my car is missing the motor, tranny, interior, front clip....
But, put me as a maybe. I'm going to try.

I'll sign on. I may run it the Saturday before with the Camaro Club, but they give preference to Camaro's and I may not get it on. I may take the Camaro on the 7th too. I just don't know what to do......I'm so confused....

It doesn't look like we have enough interest to do this on our own at this time.
It was suggested at the March meeting that we should do this later in the summer/fall, and if we don't have enough interest then, reach out to another local club and see if we could combine with them to get 10+ cars to meet the min.
Stay tuned.

Later in the year would be better for me too. My 'maybe' was looking more like a 'no' for May. I've been a little optimistic on how fast things are getting done.

Update: I called St. Paul Auto and told them we won't be doing a dyno day in May. BUT we are interested in doing something this Fall when more cars are together and proven out. They said that would be fine, so I'll follow up on this in July/Aug. to see what their schedule looks like in Sept./Oct.
They said if anyone is interested, to feel free and stop by and watch the other cars on the dyno during the Northstar Camaro's event on Sat., May 7th (I'm planning on going to this one) or there is another event with a GM car club on Sat., May 28th.
Stay tuned later this summer for another update!

As of last week, we hadn't filled our list of 15 cars. There may be a SLIGHT chance of running a Chevelle Club car, if the Camaros don't fill the list, but many just show up and expect to run without actually doing he right thing and signing up ahead of time. I had planned to run my '66 on the 7th but am now doubting I will have it on the street by then....
The Camaro Club has a member meeting this Tuesday and I will get a better idea if we will fill the list.
