Heading up to Line Performance Thursday to dyno my uncles 565 CID for his race car. Hoping for a over 1000 horse. I will post tomarrow night with the results.

Cool! A 565 what. Chevy, Cadillac, Cummins diesel?

Oh sorry it is a Big block chevy. It has a bowtie block, big chief cylinder heads, solid roller cam somewhere over 800 lift, and 13-14:1 compression I can't remember exactly.

Take some video/audio and post it on here if you think about it. That's a monster motor in my book!

this is the new engine for that silver '67 that joined us at Rock Falls and rolled out of the trailer at the fall picnic. It was also right in front of Giggle's at Car Craft this year.

I met Steve a while back when I bought a part he had on eBay. Very nice guy. He was showing me pics of his car and some exotic heads he'd bought for this engine.

Well it stayed in one piece which is always a good thing. It came up a little short at 997 horse and 810 torque. But I think he is still happy with it. He can always put the nitrous plate on it if his hair is not on fire enough.

Wow!
What does he hope to run for times with this engine?

He is hoping to run low 8's. It ran 8.82 last year with the old motor on nitrous. This motor makes more horsepower without the nitrous. Though he will probably throw a 200 shot at it eventually cause he is like that..

You KNOW he will have the juice hooked up just to see how fast it will go with that too....
The big question is why you don't own the White 67 yet ?? Sounds like he has most of the parts to put-er-together.

I am not a big fan of the 67 front and rear end style. I am searching for a 66 which is my favorite.

He is not part of the club you will have to try and talk him into joining.

Good Man !!! The 67's don't do anything for me either...that's why I have a '67 GTO....

There's a difference in '66-67 style's?

If we could get the white 67 he has and his silver 67 parked across from each other, we could have both in one pic like a before and after.

he's still a little shy of that 2hp per cube ratio.........

The 67 is a non-runner and may even have the interior out and front clip off. It's for sale....comes with a newly rebuilt, code and date correct 396.

Only slightly more difference than a '71-'72.... Same body just different lights.

I can tell you why. In high school, we grew up knowing a guy who had a butternut colored '66. It wasn't the fastest, but it was pretty peppy. He's old enough to be our dad, and we learned a lot about cars and shadetree mechanics. Really nice guy named George.
Here's the car:

I'm sure he would be up for having the silver 67 in the calendar, I'll run it by him and see what he says.
The white 67 is mostly in one piece, the front clip is on it but it is tucked into a corner in a shed. The interior is messed up a little but in a picture you would never notice.

Isn't American Express... "Membership has its privileges"...? A calendar shot is one of those perks. He'd be your "2nd adult of family relationship" according to the bylaws.

Hey, maybe that is the car I just bought. It is called Lemonwood Yellow in '66 but the same color as Butternut. My car was originally Lemonwood. I know it was in Iowa from '72-84 by the inspection stickers on the old windshield. Maybe it went there from here ??
Dang, I looked closer and see it isn't an SS...

My friend has owned that car for 20+ years. It is just a malibu not an SS, they are in the process of swapping in a 6.0 LS engine and 4L80E transmission. He always told me the car was cameo cream but I don't know I have never broken down the cowl tag.

Chris-remember being 16 and rolling down University and into Mongomery Wards in that 66?

The thing I remeber the most was getting pulled over in it and getting an excessive acceleration ticket after swapping motors when I lived in st paul.

I used to head down to Wards / Porky's most every weekend in the 90's. Last half of the decade is back when I had my Chevelle on the road. Prior to that I was driving my 68 Mustang. In high school I used to cruise Anoka in my 76 Camaro. Today I prefer Anoka or North St. Paul as far as organized weekly cruises go. But now my favorite is just spontaneous drives or visits with friends.
