No, I didn't pull a Stan and sell my car, it went into the shop today for the engine swap.  Dyno for the new engine next week and then in it goes.  Other minor things being done also like a posi unit.

Long story made short, I was going to rebuild the 396 that is in the car. Decided to sell it (not original to the car) and drop in a GM Performance 454HO. It has everything I wanted in specs, plus a 2 year warranty. Now that we have a GM parts guy on board that is even sweater should I need it, which I hope I don't. Pulled the engine today and crated it up for it's trip to Cleveland. A guy in Cleveland has a 68 Camaro, which is what the motor is originally out of, that was built one week after the motor so he is pretty happy, not to mention me too! I take the new motor to Wheeler's on Tuesday for a break in and dyno. Keep your fingers crossed it survives. Now is some clean up work on the engine bay, powder coating the inner fenders and headers, etc. Keeping the Turbo 400 as is. New exhaust and posi unit and it will be ready for the street. Hopefully I won't abuse the new 15" wheels and tires I just put on.

Sounds like fun.. that should add some torque over the 396.

Well, the project is almost complete. The motor is in and runs like a top. A couple of days to do some minor tweeaking and she'll be on the road again. Took it out for a short test run today and all went well. Not as much lope as I was hoping for but it sure runs smooth.

It was a good day today. Finished my yard work and jumped into the Chevelle for a little test run. I just got the new exhaust on and had to test it out.  I hate to jinx a good thing, but boy did it run and sound good! I could feel the torque through the entire rpm range without haveing to really put my foot into it. Talk about a perma grin. Just need to get the posi unit in and the project is complete.

Silly me, hey Stan! How about complete for this year?

Sounds like a good thing. As they say there's no replacement for displacement. Was your car always a peg-leg, or the existing unit just tired??

One wheel wonder as they say. At least after the mid 90's restoration. No idea how it was born. Current 12 bolt is out of a 70.
