Our club has some members who are interested in having a club event at Bills Gun Shop/Range. We have had one step up and is willing to secure some space and time (possibly even in the Law Enforcement side) so we can not only put rounds downrange, but also educate members in firearms in general. He's a retired officer who has also done firearms instruction. This is a great chance for anyone who's interested but a apprehensive about firearms, as well as a low pressure and friendly environment to learn. At the same time, anyone else interested can get some range time in and have fun as a club.
Anyone who's interested, please speak up. We need potential dates, etc. Range time is approx $15-20 depending on number of people attending. There is a possibility of borrowing a weapon instead of renting one, though ammunition would still need to be purchased.
I am putting this out there for everyone, but I'll let you coordinate amongst yourself.
Damn.. sounds like fun but I dont dare with my bad elbow..

Should be fun... I haven't had nearly enough range-time this year, so I'm looking forward to it.

I would love to give it a try, hopefully on a weekend in the "off" season. I don't own any guns, but have been thinking about getting something as the Coyotes are getting bolder out to the shop.

After 33+ years in law enforcement and 30 of those doing range instruction I would be glad to help. If possible it is going to be easier on a week day/night than a weekend. Maybe pick a day in the future when the weather starts to turn so we won't want to be doing car stuff. I also have a "few" guns that I would be willing to share, you pick up the amo costs. It would be good if we could set aside maybe 20 minutes or so b4 shooting for a little range instruction and safety briefing. Let's get a head count and I will check with Bills in Circle Pines.

It would be pretty tough for me to make it on a weeknight, but it's still a possibility depending on the date...
I also have several guns that I'd be willing to let others shoot... Pistols, "assault" rifles, shotguns, etc.

You evil guys and your guns don't you know guns kill people!!!!!! What Oh wait only bullets do, ok so hey count me in.
Robinsdale or Circle Pines on a weekend would work for me. Also there is a trap and skeet shooting range by me "The Wild Marsh" that is on a course that you walk to get you ready for hunting. They have an array of things Rifle, Pistol and Shot Gun, and I hear the shooting all the time just never make it up there. If folks want to do that some other time I can check about getting some shells from a few folks I know at Federal Cartridge.

Tony, I have a 22 auto that wouldn't bother your arm at all.

Long guns and rimfire handguns shouldn't be too hard on an elbow. :)

Maybe switching hands once in awhile would cure the elbow issue.

Tony,
You could always use a rest for shooting to keep the pressure off the elbows and use low recoil caliber.

A nice .22LR is not really any more kick than a Co2 air pistol, and like JE said, you can use a rest, which they have. I used to shoot an old Ruger .22 MK1 (target pistol) one handed (side stance) and after a while the weight got to your shoulder, but the kick was nothing, plus .22 ammo is cheaper bang for your buck.

I have the Ruger .22 MK1 "standard", which is a little lighter than the "target" pistol, but still doesn't recoil much... cool old gun, mine was made in 1953. :) It's a great gun for teaching beginners with if you guys want to bring your kids with. I have a box of 500rds of .22LR that I'll donate to the cause for teaching beginners. They load fine in my MK1, but jam in my 10-22, so I have to use a different brand in that. (Remmingtons jam, Winchesters load fine...)

I stopped at Bill's Range in Circle Pines today. If we can come up with 5-10 shoters, they will let us have the law enforcement bay, which is private and would allow for some talking, instruction and down time. We would need to make arrangements several weeks in advance to get it for an evening or afternoon, whatever works out for folks. The cost would be $15. per shooter for range time. One note, Bills does not allow Wolf brand ammunition or aluminum casings such as Blazer ammunition. For those who do not have their own firearm, let me know and I can suggest places such as Walmart and Fleet Farm that are the cheapest around and what caliber and type of ammo to buy. Just let me know and I can make arrangements with Bills if you would like. Most important, a date must be chosen.

Count me in for the shooting event! I haven't had the opportunity to shoot any handguns of late. Have only been at Bill's in Robbinsdale, but have wheels will travel. I too have a couple of handguns that I would share, Glock 9MM, Taurus 40 caliber (pretty gun better looking than to fire), Smith & Wesson 38 hammerless to name a few. Was just thinking I need to practice more!

I'd be up for this too, as long as the date works out. It would have to be a weekend though. Weeknight would be pretty tough as I get up for work at 3AM and live about 2hrs away. How about a date in October as the car stuff is starting to wind down? Maybe OCT 16,23,30 ??? I would also be willing to let others use one of mine as long as they purchase the ammo.

I'm willing to risk a little skin on my thumb for a chance to fire what Patton called "The greatest implement of battle ever devised."
