Thank You for arranging it. I was going to post it too, but forgot.
This is a big deal for our club. Everyone that can make it with thier cars should go. They block off the streets to only older cars, and it's easy access off 36 near the giant snowman if you know where that is. I like it better than any of the other city cruises, but the time has always been bad. I've already started working on trading a day or 1/2 day off to get myself down there.
Btw: this is the cruise where I met and joined the club. The cool thing too is that as a host club, we get a choice parking area too.
What's the club responsibility when we're there? I haven't beent here as part of hose club.

In the past we monitored a couple of street barricades near where we park as a club to make sure that any pedestrians, children, dogs, etc. didn't get hit by any of the cars crusing around.
As long as there were a couple of people there, it worked out fine. We usually rotated in and out so that some could look at other cars while the barricades were being watched.
I'm sure Tony knows more details. That was just my experience.

Sounds good. I knew it wasn't much in the way of work, but I wanted to make sure too. Not sure if I can get the club tent in my car, but I will have the banner for sure.
Who else thinks they will make it?

Im going unless its hailing or there is a tornado on the ground..
Stan Pretty much covered the responsibilities... Here is a link to the "official" version.. Its actually very simple..
I'll be there... probably will bring Cale, but not sure about Jenna and A.J. yet.

Change in plans for me... I'm not going to make No. St. Paul as we decided to go to the Apple Valley Dancin' & Cruisin' show instead. I'd like to go to No. St. Paul, but the AV show is 10 min. from my house and being in the car show gets you 2 tickets into the live band show.
The bands are 80's knockoff bands and of course they have a beer garden... so my wife and I are going to take that in.
If there are any south side guys going to No. St. Paul, let me know as I'd like to give you the brake pedal to give to Tony.
Tony-If that doesn't work out, it's a reason for me to drive the Chevelle up to your house sometime this weekend so that I can give it to you.

Same here... what happens if it's raining? Do they still have the show? Are we still committed to having people there to watch the gate?

Assuming the weather is going to be good. Lets get a tally together on whom is planning to show up with thier cars. Then we can manage the parking spots so people dont start parking in our reserved lot. A problem that has happened in the past.

Chris (67SS) actually has a Camaro, but it's nicer than my car. Faster too. It's the one that looks stock on the outside down the the cute little rally wheels and tires.

so far looks like...
Tony, Bryan, Derek, Jon H, Jim Larson, 67ss, Terry, John D, and Craig ....
There is room for 8 in the lot and another 2-3 out front on the street. The Camaro is OK.. as club of the night we can bring anything including 1975 and newer..

Yeah. It looks like its going to be wet tonight. Im trying to get a handle on how much and when.
Damn... I really don't want to drive 100mi from home to go stand in the rain with 2 small kids. :( Unless the forecast changes, I'm probably out. I hope some show up to honor our commitment to watch the gate though.

I talked to Bill Kinney and the show will go on unless the storms are severe.. Ill be there to honor our gate commitment... Ill be last minute as to weather Ill bring my car if forecast changes to a little rain. but if threat is severe its staying in the garage.. sorry folks.. This is what happens when you plan stuff 6 months in advance.

I will be keeping an eye on it as well. Being so far, I might not bring my car, but I will go down to honor the gate commitment as well, unless it's nasty.

I would certainly say that was severe. The sky just stopped unleashing hell on us here in the northern subs about 10 minutes ago.
Ian called me while I was still at work since he was just heading over to the show. I got off about 10 minutes later and called him back to see where he was at. Knowing the show would probably be cancelled by the time I got there but went anyways. Told Ian to call me if the show is cancelled and let me know if I should turn back and head home. A few minutes later Ian called me and said they just cancelled it and everyone was packed up and heading out, dont bother. No sooner then I got turned around. The rain just poured like crazy.
So, I got as far as 36th and Dale in an attempt to make it out with the club. I tried.
Do we know if they are all full for the entire summer with co-hosts? Perhaps we can re-schedule this?

Cant reschedule till next year.. they are booked for 2010..
Talked to John. He and Craig made it home but had to duck under some bridges and awnings to get there... I had the kids pop the garage door and made it in about 4 minutes before the pea to dime size hail came down in a downpour.. Hopefully everyone else made it home OK with their Daily drivers as well..

Went to the Apple Valley show. About 25 cars showed up, parked, and then I headed out when the radar looked really nasty. Got home and we just got an inch of rain in 10 min. It's been a bad month for car shows...

I made it fine, but almost got (too) submerged coming out of the Little Caesar's pizza parking lot. Exit to hwy 10 closed, lights out on hwy 65, so I went the longer way.
Here's pics that I got:
These are the radio towers on 694 between Hamline and Lexington. The clouds are so low that the tops are hidden.

Yeah, after we got the word about the show being cancelled due to HAIL coming that way Craig & I headed out right behind Tony.
About the time he was safely tucked into his garage, the same hail started pinging off the road. Luckily we were about 100' from an underpass (and the 1st ones to get there). We hid under there for about 15 minutes while peas & marbles rained down!
It let up and we pulled out, but it was looking really UGLY to the west. "Alternate Plan Alpha" was engaged and we hauled azz to Porky's! Again we lucked out and the really nasty stuff hit just after we'd parked and ordered dinner. WOW! At least a dozen "zapBOOM" lightning strikes (NO time delay!) and the water was pouring off the canopy like a curtain!
We hooked up with a couple of other guys that were waiting out the storm and bench raced awhile. They had smart phones and gave weather updates - a BIG ugly magenta blob went right over us. We probably hung out there about 1-1/2 hours then headed out. I got home about 8:15, Craig at 9:00. All's ok & no damage.

Glad you guys were able to still make it to Porky's. now THAT's die hard cruise night there.

Since I work in Uptown Minneapolis. I saw the weather coming. It was starting to rain where I was before Ian got rained on since he was ahead of me and almost there. Since I wanted to honor my word and commitment. I headed to the show anyways knowing it with either A) Be called off before I got there. B) Be called off shortly after I got there. And C) knowing that the drive home was going to be a bit wild and traffic was going to be nuts all the way home.
Traffic wasnt as bad as I was expecting but the rain was.
