I might be interested in the M20, when it comes out...
I'm not sure if it's an M20 or M21, but will find out when I pull it. I don't plan on keeping it unless it's the original trans to the car, then I'll hang onto it.
The rear gear ratio on the 442's was more highway friendly like, 2.78, 3.08, etc and it would have come with an M20. What is in there now could be completely different. Just a quick reference to the year application is the casting number on the right side of the main case. It should be visible from under the car and there may be a date code stamped in the side too. Partial vins were stamped on top.
1968 case casting number would be.. 3925660 but that number ran from 1968 thru 1970

Well it's official, Dec 2020 was 7 degrees warmer on average than 2019.
Jr's Garage had 66 fewer heating hours year over year.
January is going to end up milder than average too. I'll take it, especially after the January of 2019.

That's pretty interesting Stan, is that from a smart-thermostat app?
I've been thinking I should invest in smart thermostats for my garages as well. In the big shop, it would be nice to turn up the temp from the house while I drink my coffee and have it warmed up when I get in there. In the little garage, it would be nice to have an alert if the heat goes out and I need to do something to save the plumbing.

Yep it's a Honeywell wi fi thermostat. I use it exactly as you described

The thermostat that came with my shop heater my be wi-fi enabled ??? Never paid any attention. Turning it up before going out with a phone would be nice. Right now I just go out and tough it out until it warms up, like I always did with the old place. This newfangled technology is confusing to me.

Look at all you guys with fancy heated garages. I have a few other things to sort out in this house before I heat the garage. It is insulated, except the ceiling, so there’s a start.

Some of us ARE very spoiled. AAAAnd we know it.
That said, I always had a heated, after hours place to deal with minor stuff since I was 16 and had a car.
First house had a 26x26 detached garage, no insulation or heat. 676 sq. ft. 2 1/2 years. Second house, 20x20 attached no heat. that was the house with electric heat, almost broke me. 400 sq. ft. 10 years. Third house 24x24, attached, insulated, no heat. 576 sq. ft. 25 years. Fourth, current and probably final house, 34x21, plus 12x16 work area. 906 sq. ft. 6 years. Number Four was a foreclosure, mostly an investment of some inherited money, and wanted a Rambler again.
The Farmington "Treasure Chest" was also for investment of those inherited dollars, and mostly funded by my Social Security check.
As you stated, it is a journey and a set of priorities. Every Hobbyist has a story to share.
We all count our blessing , prioritize, and live our lives. I still go to the shop every day because it means more to me than the "toys". Will be 71 years old this year, hope to have the good health to complete several "car" projects, along with everything else.
It would be fun to have a "Man Cave" thread specifically for this subject.
There are some great stories out there, Stan, Kevin, Mitch and others could each write their own chapter.
Once again we are ALL very fortunate just to be on this journey.
