Good time today. Today as the first time I have ever been to a car show that I started out sweating bullets and later was freezing to the point where I was shivering and wrapped a blanket around myself and ended up resting in the car. It is nice to see the humidity dissopate.
Good thing we took down the easy-up. It sounds like a pretty good storm going on here right now. Tent will likely be a bit soggy but it wont go end over end like it did this afternoon.

Gotta love how a "home-built", on-a-budget, 44 year-old, Station Wagon can spank-azz!

Congrats Scott, that is so cool to know you don't need the $24,000 chassis $10,000 engines and the $40,000 of additional equipment folks say is the only way to compete and win. The guys in the Pro Built stuff looked bad with your ride winning on their court.

Scott, you represented yourself, the club, and the area in a great way! It's safe to say we are all proud to be associated with you and the wagon (at least vicariously...)!

Congratulations Scott! That's really cool and I love the fact you did it in a wagon! It just confirms what we all already knew...that you put yourself together one fun ride!
Thanks Chris P for letting me stow my gear in your ride.
I had a good time but next year I plan on having my Chevelle parked in Chevelle row!

I'd like to drop a note and "thank you" to all the members that braved the heat, rain, & wind and made our showing at the event a success!
We made a very respectable showing at this event, and really gave an example of what a car club should be all about.

Thanks guys! Bryan made a cool Facebook post wondering if any other Club had as much success as we did this year. Regardless- it was a good year for us, with a great turnout, great parking, good times among all the members, and Club Members won both performance and show awards. The weather even cooperated for the most part! It was a great time and we truly enjoyed ourselves. Thanks for ALL the support that helped us win the RSE competition, and I'm proud to be a Member of this fine Club!
Oh- and thumbs up to whoever brought the Subway sandwiches! Great move there- it should be a regular part of the program. Perfect timing and there's nothing like a cool sandwich on a hot afternoon. It was perfect.

Credit for the bottled water all 3 days and the subs on Sat. goes to John D. He suggested it, the officers approved, and the club paid for it. Thanks to John D. and my wife for picking them up and delivering them in the rain too....!.
If anyone was at the meeting, they heard that our treasury continues to grow, and these are small ways we can give it back to the club to remain 'non-profit'.

I can't take full credit for the water and sandwiches guys... Dave Seitz and I were chatting on the phone and the idea was hatched between the 2 of us. He also brought a few cases of H2O and added to the cooler.
(The real credit goes to my wife for not throttling/choking the living..... out of the doofus' at Subway. I called the order in 1-1/2 days IN ADVANCE, for pickup at 9:30am, on Saturday. She gets there at 9:30, and they HADN'T EVEN STARTED MAKING THE ORDER!!)

Yes, very thoughtful for them to think of the water and food (especially the water).
We'll continue to use some of the club funds as needed, though we also keep some in reserve to afford things like paying for the new shirts we ordered and funding some of the Automania car show expenses. Until the shirts are sold, the club has money tied up in them, same with expenses until the show happens.
Also, we had a great turnout with members, and I think even aside from the Awards, our club is getting to be known. Full show recap in the newsletter.

The car was right on the nuts. The driver needs to be fired though. LOL.. I'm reveling in the success of the club in general though while I plan my next step on getting my reaction times back on track.

Maybe this is a good place and time to say this- but I've seen this club go through some stuff since I starting hanging out with you guys about 4 yrs ago. I must say that right now, based on the enthusiasm, turnout, and quality of the members and cars participating, that this club has never been better. The dragstrip day, cruise night stuff, and Car Craft are the only 3 things I've been a part of this year, but all 3 were well attended, well organized, and just plain fun! I'm glad to be here, and the low pressure, easy-going nature of this club is really appealing to me. I hang out with you guys because I want to, not because I feel like I have to (as has been the case with other clubs I've been a part of).
Whatever is happening is working. Let's keep it up!
