Two-Tone man... iron like that's gotta have 2 colors! (at least I hope it's a two-tone )
At least you're working on a CAR... I discovered there's a workbench along one wall (under all the crap) and power-washed the garage floor yesterday.

well i think you are all right. it will be mostly "blue suede", but to get the full training experience, i'm doing the top in a single stage white urethane. i would comment more, but as noted i have a lot to sand even with just the top part.

If it rains at BTF we can all jump in the wagon, those that can't get in can seek shelter onder those big fins. Going to look nice.

Yes it is... the paint is now fairly smooth. I'm ready to re-prime and then sand with the 320
At this point i am really glad it is just the top and some on the sides.
Looks very cool, Bruce. Get it on the road......Hastings starts tomorrow night and No St Paul next Friday ....

Looks great!
Carl says wants to park his '60 Nomad next to you at BTTF... I haven't talked to him in a couple weeks, but it sounds like he's making some progress too. His will look very unfinished, but should be driveable.
Good luck getting it ready!

tell him that sounds good.
It could be windowless (except the windshield) but what will still be almost as dry as my Chevelle was before the new top.
The next round will be the make it legal, then trim i need to get windows, then trim that makes it look good.
There are not many open days left i can work on it but it should be ready enough.

thanks guy's. yep i have 20 days left but it is really 13 as i will be gone part of the time. i am pre-registered for BBTF's, just like the last 2 years when i ended up as a walker. i had drove it there the previous 3 years keep in mind this all started as replacing 3 little pieces above the rear window that were rusted. a few life surprises and a whole lot of "well since it is apart any way i should do this too" i will post my progress for the moment i hope it is a sunny weekend for the car show.

well, ready or not here i come, did 10 mile shake down tonight. more wrenching tomorrow and perhaps part of Friday and off to BTT50's.
Not sure i will get he windows all in but it will still be almost as dry as my convert was before the new top.
That does look great. What are your plans for wheels/tires? It'll complete the look...

Wheels & Tires would be a tough decision on that car... there's so many options that would look great on it. Anything from 14" chromies and wide whitewalls, to 18" billets would work.

As far as wheels and tires, they will be as is until i complete the interior and perhaps a swap to a V-8.
i also may be mounting rear skirts. The car came with them when new and i have a set almost ready to go.

I think those early rides look awesome on Supremes- especially if they're not trying to be drag cars. It really gives a cool custom look.
here are as few more recent updates showing some mild custom work on the front.
it is made it out of a old truck grill from the BBTF the swap meet.

Bruce, do you have a 'before' pic of what the stock grill/bumper are supposed to look like? Sorry, I don't know what it used to look like as I'm not fluent in those years...
Otherwise, what you did looks smooth to me!

Tube grilles look good with the bumper-guard!
The front of a '59 looks very "busy" with the guard and the factory grille, and the tube grille looks too "plain" without the guard, but they sure look great together!!!

That 2 tone will look really cool when the trim is back on ...
I didn't figure it would be on for this weekend...
I plan to go Friday but not Sat. Maybe Sunday morning, of course it's all weather related....
I'm going to the Hampton this morning to pick up my packet...
just got back from picking mine up, ~ 1hr 20 to get there, 1/2 to get back
back to the shop to add some more parts, weather will be on my radar as at t he moment i only have front and rear windows.
Here is a update on what i have been up to.
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and have it in a good place for now so can keep on with the build.
hope to make it to the September meeting.

Here is the basically what the 2014 BTT50's version will look like. the headliner and windlace will have to wait a little longer.
The 71 is getting closer to it's turn at bat.
Hope to see some of you this weekend in St. Paul
Looks like it will be another rainy start Friday. Hoping this weather moves out soon.
Looks great Bruce!
That wagon sooooo has that 60's family wagon feel, and that's cool. I can picture the kids in the back with the coolers and the surf boards on top.
Surf boards !!!! around here ?????
More like a green army surplus tent, some folding cots for the sleeping bags and a few 8 ft cane poles for the fish hole...
Now wait a tick Mitch... didn't you know Lake Worthington in MN is the wind surfing capital of the U.S.!
